Core Beliefs
He Ascended into Heaven...We believe that heaven is a real place for all Christians to live forever with God and the angels. It is a place of worship. Each person will receive a new resurrected body.
(Acts 1:9-11, Revelation 5:1-10, 1 Corinthians 15:50-57)
holy catholic church...The word “catholic” refers NOT to the Roman Catholic Church,
but to the “Universal Christian Church”. The Christian church is comprised of Jesus followers who have been made in the image
of God to live deeply together while bringing glory to God.
(Genesis 1:26-27, Acts 2:42-47, Matthew 5:14-16)
saints...All people are born “sinners” (separated from God based
on their dead Spirit), but all people become “Saints”
(“Sanctus”-Latin for set apart and brought alive Spiritually)
when they give their life to Jesus Christ. Sainthood is not
achieved by what people have done, but by what God has
done in His Son Jesus. This salvation is eternally secure,
and is not based on human works but by the Grace of God.
Sin still exists in all humans, but confession of sins daily
allows the Christian to stay in right fellowship with God.
(1 Corinthians 1:2, Ephesians 1:1, 18, John 10:28, Ephesians 2:8-9)
Church Ordinances...In addition, SPCC beleives in and observes 2 Church Ordinances.
Baptism is an outward confession after salvation in Christ of
an inner spiritual conversion. It symbolizes the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ through immersion in water.
Baptism is not required for salvation, but it is an important
public confession for the individual and the community of
faith to celebrate how Christ can change a life.
(Mark 1:9-13, Romans 6:3-7, Ephesians 4:5)
The Lord's Supper is a symbolic spiritual meal observed regularly
by all Christians regardless of their Christian denominational background. The bread symbolizes Christ’s body, and the juice symbolizes His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins. We enjoy this time of spiritual remembrance regularly on Sunday mornings.
(Matthew 26:20-35, 2 Corinthians 11:23-34, Revelation 19:7-10)
